Mayor presents the BRT project and highlights revolution in the concept of urban mobility

Comfort, convenience and efficiency. These are some of the advantages of BRT (Bus Rapid Transit), which is being implemented by the city of João Pessoa (PMJP). The system consists of a "subway on wheels" and is in the bidding stage. The project was presented on Friday (29), at City Hall, the mayor Luciano Cartaxo and the Secretary for Planning, Rômulo Polari.

The work, which is funded by the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Cities, the CAP 2 - Great Cities / Mobility Program, is estimated at approximately R$188 million and, according to Luciano Cartaxo, will revolutionize the concept of mobility in João Pessoa. "There will be more comfort, affordability and efficiency in public transport. This will encourage people to leave the car at home and go to work by bus, "he said.

Feira Brasil mostra Brasil

The largest fair in the Northeast, Brasil mostra Brasil, has already announced the dates of this year. Celebrating 20 years, the place aims to provide a quality event, and brings together what is best in the country for the public display of the regions North and Northeast. 

The fair takes place in two major capital cities and this year will be held between 8 and 17 of August in Joao Pessoa in Paraiba and between 22 and 31 of August in Natal in Rio Grande do Norte.

More than 100 000 people are expected at the event.

Robotics World Cup, brings together 45 countries in João Pessoa

João Pessoa City is hosting the World Cup of Robotics, which meets three thousand students and academics from 45 countries.

João Pessoa is a reference in Protected Areas

Over the past two years, the city of João Pessoa promoted the preservation of green areas, using native tree seedlings produced in the Municipal Nursery.

The city was the first in Brazil to produce a Municipal Plan of Conservation and Restoration of the Atlantic Forest, in late 2010, establishing a regulatory framework for environmental actions in Brazil.

Convention Center João Pessoa has scheduled events until 2016

In 2014, are scheduled: Congress of Physical Education and Innovation; International Congress of Physical Therapy; National Meeting of Robotics; Workshop Brazil Shows Brazil; Meeting of State Attorneys; World Cup of Robotics; Tourism Festival of Joao Pessoa and The Mitsubishi motor Sport Meeting.

For 2015 and 2016 are scheduled, respectively, the Brazilian Symposium on Remote Sensing and the National Congress of Veterinary Medicine

The last step to complete the Convention Center will be the theater with capacity for over 3000 people, scheduled for the first half of 2014. The total area of the Convention Center is 34.52 hectares, with 48,676 square meters of built area. The three parks - already in operation - can park more than a thousand cars. Until the completion of the work should be invested R$ 240 million.
